iWeb Publishing

iWeb is a program in the iLife software suite that comes with many Apple computers. It is very easy to use, and has lots of templates to choose from, so you can get started creating a website right away.

There are significant differences between iWeb09--the newest version--and all previous version of iWeb. Please select the publishing help below that is appropriate for your version of iWeb.


iWeb09 (Newest Version)

  1. Open iWeb, select YOURSITE on the left hand menu and choose FTP Server from the Publish to drop-down list.
  2. iWeb - Site select
  3. Server address: rso.wisc.edu
  4. User name: UserID
  5. Enter your Password
  6. Directory/Path: html/
  7. Protocol: SFTP
  8. Port: 22
  9. URL: http://UserID.rso.wisc.edu

iWeb versions prior to iLife09

In the earlier versions of iWeb, you will need to publish your files to a folder on your Mac and then upload the files in that folder to the RSO web server using a SFTP program for example Fetch.

To publish your files to a folder in iWeb:
   1. Choose File > Publish to a Folder.

   2. Choose a location to store your site, and then click Choose.

3. Download Fetch, a sftp client for macs and once you are connected, drag your files onto the RSO server.
