Web Hosting is available for University of Wisconsin, System, and its affiliates. Sites must be related to a UW department, project, or other initiative and must follow the UW-Madison Responsible Use of Information Technology Policies.
Division of Responsibilities
Please review our Division of Responsibilities to make sure you meet the required terms.
Users are responsible for all web development and content of their site(s), including testing, ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and security updates. The Web Hosting team is responsible for providing a secure and stable hosting platforms.
What you'll need
Developers
If your team does not have a developer or you are unsure which service will best meet your needs, see DoIT web publishing options for additional hosting solutions or to request a consultation.
Domain name
Decide on a domain name for your site. You can create a new primary domain or transfer an existing domain.
Example: yoursite.dept.wisc.edu
Billing details
To cover the monthly fee for your account, you need to provide a DoIT Customer Billing ID. If your account is under a DoIT department, you don’t need to provide funding, and fees are waived.
